Lot Essay

The design for this inspired Paddington was created by the talented students of Westminster Academy, a school for children and young adults less than a mile from this bear's location in Sheldon Square. The statue is a symbol of education and learning, two things Paddington has experienced plenty of since arriving in London from Darkest Peru.
The students who gathered their considerable forces to create this wonderful bear were inspired not only by Paddington, but also by artist Tom Phillips and Great Britain as a whole. Phillips' trademark use of words in his art is clearly visible all over Paddington.
Texting Paddington is situated in Sheldon Square which has another connection with everyone's favourite explorer bear because it featured in the new Paddington movie. Look out for it when you go to see the film.
