The sheet is hinged at the upper corners and center upper edge to the backing board and undulates slightly. Minor wear is to the edges. Pinholes with associated loss are to the corners, presumably a vestige of the artist's working process. A faint handling mark is to the lower left edge. Minor hairline cracking is visible above the female figure's head in a black passage. A few pinpoint accretions are to the lower right quadrant. There is no apparent inpainting visible under ultraviolet light.
