A CARVED TIXI LACQUER BOX
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The rectangular box and cover are carved through the fine red and black layers of lacquer with pommel scrolls. The box has a pair of bail handles on the sides and a shaped two-part lockplate and cloud-form hasp at the front.
4 ¾ (12.2 cm.) high, 10 5/8 in. (27.1 cm.) wide, 5 3/8 in. (13.8 cm.) deep
