- expected age cracks with associated loss to the corners and edges
- section of loss to the ruyi-form foot on one side
- expected craquelure to the surface and lacquer and expected rubbing to the painted decoration
- expected surface wear and scratches
- one metal hinge at the back of the cover is missing
- small tabs in interior suggests there might have been an interior tray, which is now missing along with one tab
- small areas of loss in interior associated with the metal hinges
