The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This console is in overall good decoration order.
The veneered top with natural inclusions to the stone. The seams where the veneers join visible. The top with a small areas of infill. The edges and side with a few minor areas of chipped loss.
The giltwood with some scattered chips, small losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing gesso, bole and bare wood in areas as to be expected with age.
The central apron with a loss to the scroll to the right of centre.
There is some shrinkage and separation the joins, with faint signs of the top of the legs being further secured to the frame from the underside. The stretcher with old restored breaks to where the four sections meet the legs and each other.
There are minor traces of old woodworm, apparently inactive.
Structurally secure and ready to place.
