A handwritten picture postcard from Eric Clapton to Pattie Boyd following their separation in April 1987, postmarked Guildford, 6 July 1987, addressed in red ink in Clapton's hand to Mrs. P. Clapton at 20 Queen Anne's Gardens, Chiswick, London, Clapton writes Dear Nell... I'm off to Monserratt [sic] on Tuesday to work on Sting's album and get some rest... Meanwhile the bureau has been instructed to cater to your every whim, and entreats Pattie to take it easy, have faith, and believe, signed I love you, El xxx, the reverse featuring a reproduction of the painting Kullervo's Curse by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, 1899, annotated in blue ballpoint pen by Clapton with a speech bubble from the mouth of the central male figure, inscribed WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO IRON THAT BLOODY SHIRT
