Three postcards from Eric Clapton to Pattie Boyd, variously addressed in black ballpoint pen in Clapton's hand to Mrs. Clapton or Mrs. E. P. Clapton at Hurtwood Edge, each handwritten in Kanji script in black brush pen and 'translated' in black ballpoint pen, the first postmarked Fukuoka, Japan, 1 December 1979, from the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel, reading That should say "Clapton, Nelly and Eric". I haven't learnt how to write "I love you" yet, but I'll wring it out of them one way or another - all my love - El xxx, the second postmarked Osaka, Japan, 2 December 1979, from The Plaza hotel, reading (See! I told you I'd do it), "I love You - Eric), I think I'll get a smaller pen, the third similarly postmarked, reading (Eric loves Nelly) xxxxx
the largest 418 x 5 7/8 in. (10.5 x 14.8 cm)
