During the summer of 1978, Eric Clapton supported Bob Dylan for three European shows, the largest of which was The Picnic at the Blackbushe Aeorodome in Camberley, Surrey, on Saturday 15 July 1978. The final show of Dylan's European tour and Clapton's only appearance in England that year, the concert drew an estimated 200,000 attendees - the largest crowd for a pop festival in Britain since the Isle of Wight nine years earlier. Credited to Nello (one of Clapton's nicknames for Pattie Boyd), the image featured on the gatefold sleeve of Clapton's 1978 album Backless.
Pattie Boyd: I never went on the road with George and the Beatles, so to be on stage with Eric was so exciting. I could stand on the side of the stage to photograph not only the audience but Eric and the rest of the band. I could understand why musicians would want that feeling night after night.
