Lot Essay

Eric Clapton purchased this Rolex wristwatch in Nassau, The Bahamas, in the early 1980s as a birthday gift for Pattie Boyd, to match a similar Rolex wristwatch that he regularly sported during this period. Pattie told us that she wore this wristwatch almost constantly for the next few years, until Eric presented her with a Cartier wristwatch for her fortieth birthday. Pattie was photographed wearing this wristwatch when she arrived with Eric at the Dominion Theatre in London for a Prince's Trust charity rock concert on 20 July 1983.
