Shot against white background - noticeable peripheral wear consistent with age and handling including substantial creasing to corners with cracks and surface loss to emulsion, crackled emulsion to edges, scattered emulsion splashes to surface, a 2x2 in. yellowish stain to upper left edge, a small yellow accretion to right of George's head, some toning verso. Shot against brick wall - peripheral wear consistent with age and handling: dog-ears to three corners with cracks and surface loss to emulsion, handling crease to left edge with cracked emulsion, a few lighter creases throughout with hairline crackles to emulsion, some toning verso.
