Lot Essay

This cup is painted with a vivid scene of a boy approaching a rooster in a garden setting, with an imperial poem composed by Qianlong Emperor, followed by two iron-red seals read ‘san’ and ‘long’. Compare with an identical example in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated in Special Exhibition of K'ang-Hsi, Yung-Cheng and Ch'ien-Lung Porcelain Ware from the Ch'ing Dynasty in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1986, p.171, pl.144.
