Lot Essay

The lot comprises a furong soapstone seal with a horse-form finial, with an inscription on the side dated to the jiashu cyclical year (1934) and signed by Yingai, the pseudonym of Shou Shigong (1885-1950), and a two-character inscription on the seal face; a square furong soapstone seal carved with chrysanthemums on one side and a poetic inscription on the other signed by Ma Gongyu (1890-1969), and a four-character inscription on the seal face; and a rectangular furong soapstone seal carved with a recumbent deer under a pine tree amidst rocks and lingzhi on one side, a signature of Putang, the pseudonym of Wu Pu (1922-1966) on the other, and a four-character inscription on the seal face.
