Details
The rectangular seal, surmounted by a recumbent, double-horned mythical beast, has sides incised with a long inscription by Gao Yehou stating that the seal was previously owned by ‘Jiaolin’ and is currently possessed by ‘Guanfu zhai’. There is a Yuxuan signature on another side. The seal face is carved with the characters Jiaolin shuwu.

‘Jiaolin shuwu’ is the studio name of Liang Qingbiao, a prominent art collector active during the Kangxi period. ‘Guanfu zhai’ is the studio name of Jiang Ruping, a collector active during the Republic period. Gao Yehou (1878-1952) is a seal carver, painter and connoisseur who served as an early member of the Xiling Society.
