Thanks to the relationship that John Kobal and his wife developed with Clarence Sinclair bull, we know more about him than any other Hollywood photographer. His style of soft focused pictorialism, illustrated in this Lot, resulted in a body of work unmatched in Hollywood photography. So much that Grace Kelly requested he take her portrait to be used on stamps after her marriage to Prince Rainer III of Monaco. This photograph is an image from that sitting.
