Claude Picasso has confirmed the authenticity of this work.
This beautiful terracotta tile is a mature and unique example of Picasso’s expression of freedom and happiness that he felt during the Post-War period.
Visage was previously in the Collection of Marina Picasso, the daughter of Picasso’s son, Paulo, who was born of the painter’s first marriage to the Russian ballet dancer, Olga Khokhlova. Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
No cracks or restorations detected. The sides of the tile are by nature slightly rough with a few small nicks and chips in places; the left and right pointed corners each with larger chips. Some minor surface scuffs and marks with some faint chalky white residue in places. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
