Christie’s is delighted to present an exceptional group of Picasso ceramics from the Nina Miller Collection. Exhibited in a dedicated exhibition in Hong Kong in 2014, the 32 works on offer from this illustrious private collection showcase the truly extraordinary variety of Pablo Picasso’s exploration in the medium.
Spanning the entirety of the artist’s career, the group of works represents stunning examples of the artist’s most enduring and iconic themes which are often seen in his most celebrated paintings: from bullfighting scenes, birds and animals; to the sensuous and loving portrait of his last muse and second wife, Jacqueline Roque, whom he met at the Madoura Pottery in Vallauris.
The lovingly curated collection of works from the Nina Miller Collection celebrates the Spanish Master’s creativity and mastery of an age old tradition. The scope of techniques represented here are indicative of Picasso’s extensive research in the medium and offers collectors an astonishing insight into his working methods.
No chips or restorations detected. One or two fine hairline cracks to the raised areas, from the time of firing. A spot of slight discolouration towards the lower right. The rim with one or two tiny nicks in places. Minor handling marks and scuffs in places. Minor surface dirt. The footrim with three footmarks, from the time of firing. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair, and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
