Lot Essay

Christie’s is delighted to present an exceptional group of Picasso ceramics from the Nina Miller Collection. Exhibited in a dedicated exhibition in Hong Kong in 2014, the 32 works on offer from this illustrious private collection showcase the truly extraordinary variety of Pablo Picasso’s exploration in the medium.

Spanning the entirety of the artist’s career, the group of works represents stunning examples of the artist’s most enduring and iconic themes which are often seen in his most celebrated paintings: from bullfighting scenes, birds and animals; to the sensuous and loving portrait of his last muse and second wife, Jacqueline Roque, whom he met at the Madoura Pottery in Vallauris.

The lovingly curated collection of works from the Nina Miller Collection celebrates the Spanish Master’s creativity and mastery of an age old tradition. The scope of techniques represented here are indicative of Picasso’s extensive research in the medium and offers collectors an astonishing insight into his working methods.
