The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
(i) The canvas, stretcher and attachment are in generally good condition. The canvas is slack to the stretcher. There are soft abrasions in places. There is surface soiling in places. There is a dent in the upper left quadrant. The canvas draws in the upper right corner. There is a dent to the lower left vertical edge. There are stretcher marks visible. There is a shiny spot in the upper right corner. Examination under ultra violet light shows no indication of inpainting.
(ii) The canvas, stretcher and attachment are in generally good condition. The canvas is slack to the stretcher. There are soft abrasions in places. There is surface soiling in places. There are craquelures in places. There is a dent in the upper right corner. There are matte spots in paces. There are irregularities to the varnish. There are surface irregularities in places. The canvas draws in the upper left corners. There is a dent in the centre. There are stretcher marks visible along the edges. There are few minor paint losses in places. Examination under ultra violet light shows no indication of inpainting.
