The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is structurally sound and all elements appear to be present and adhere well to their underlying support. There are some surface irregularities, oxidation to the iron hardware, minute lifting and losses in places to the found wood, all in keeping with the nature of the found medium and the artist’s working method. There are some faint spots of discolouration in places, most notably to the upper right quadrant. When examined under ultraviolet light there appears to be no indication of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
