Margaret De Patta was a seminal figure in the American Modernist Jewelry movement. She was a founding member of the San Francisco Metal Arts Guild and is widely acknowledged as a mentor to many of the Bay Area jewellers. Her architectural forms were influenced by the Constructivists. The De Patta cuff bracelet and ring epitomize her use of simple lines and structure. Her work is included in the collections of the Oakland Museum, The British Museum in London, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Museum of Art, and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.
