Lot Essay

A sleeve vase with lion-mask handles but without the decoration, is illustrated by Rose Kerr & John Ayers, Blanc de Chine-porcelain from Dehua, Singapore 2002, nr. 69, which is dated to the mid-17th century. They state that archaic motifs like lion-mask handles appear frequently on Dehua vases and censers.
