FAMILLE ROSE TEAPOT AND COVER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) AND YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
The wine pot is decorated to each of the six sides with an openwork panel depicting various flower sprays, separated by bamboo-form edges, handle and spout. The teapot is applied to the exterior with a delicate array of flower blooms growing from leafy foliage, surrounded by butterflies, all below a stylised lappet band to the foot. The cover is painted with floral sprays and surmounted by a grasshopper-form finial.
