The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
The figure of Guandi: both hands are replaced; the top part of the headdress has been replaced and the front of the headdress has been oversprayed. The three-sectioned beard has been possible restored.
The figure of Cai Shen: There are four hairline cracks on the reverse. Both hands and the ingot have been replaced. The tiger has a small restored glaze chip of circa 0.4 cm. long. The square manufacturing hole to the body has a later inset wooden section.
Both: The enamels remain bright.
