The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue description;
- with wide margins, the sheet slightly reduced above and below, a deckle edge at left.
- the signature in pencil added by another hand.
- light-staining.
- some foxing in the subject, most notably above the raised hand of the kneeling servant lower right.
- a few small pale spots in the upper subject (presumably fox marks which have been treated)
- some surface skinning at the upper left and right sheet edges verso.
