The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue description:
- presumably the full sheet (the width measures 912 mm. and F&S calls for 914 mm.).
- the greens and purple slightly attenuated.
- a small elliptical handling crease above the subject's left eyebrow and another in the right cheek, with two small handling creases in the printed red of the subject's neck (only visible in a raking light).
- a few other unobtrusive handling indentations (only visible in a raking light).
- a diagonal crease (35 mm.) at the upper left corner.
- some tiny areas of ink loss at the sheet edges with skillful retouching to the green and purple in places at the upper and lower sheet edges.
- a thin horizontal scuff (40 mm.) in the printed purple at the lower sheet edge.
- at places at the upper and lower sheet edges some unobtrusive remains of adhesive, associated with paper tapes which have been removed.
- with areas of minor rubbing at the extreme sheet edges, associated with the previous frame.
- a dark band of backboard-staining along the extreme sheet edges and areas of scattered foxing verso.
- occasional minor skinning in places, associated with previous hinges verso.
- hinged with paper tape in places along the upper sheet edge verso.
Otherwise as described and in generally good condition.
