The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue description:
- presumably the full sheet (F&S calls for 914 x 914 mm.).
- moisture-damage along the lower sheet edge, with areas of ink loss, cracking and retouching across the width of the sheet (approximately 15 mm. into the image), and further pinpoint losses along the extreme lower sheet edge.
- some irregularities in the blue, possibly associated with moisture-damage (please contact the department for further images).
- two small elliptical handling creases in the subject's chin, one in her left cheek and two more minor creases in the background at right (mainly visible in a raking light).
- two hard diagonal creases (25 mm. and smaller) at the lower right corner.
- a skillfully repaired short tear (6 mm.) at the lower left sheet edge.
- mottled moisture- and backboard staining across the sheet verso.
- the moisture-staining affecting the '75' of the stamp-numbering on the reverse.
- areas of minor skinning and paper paste at places along the sheet edges verso, presumably associated with previous mounting.
