The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- the full sheet, with a deckle edge above.
- the colours fresh and unattenuated.
- time-staining at the upper sheet edge, and in places to the sheet edges elsewhere.
- a 5 mm. tear at the upper right sheet edge.
- an unobtrusive horizontal crease along the length of the lower sheet edge, mainly visible in raking light.
