The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- with 5-25 mm. margins on all sides, the shet edges slightly irregular.
- a circa 500 mm. tear in the upper left sheet, with some associated shorter tears and splits.
- a circa 180 mm. split at lower left.
- a circa 200 mm. curved split at upper right.
- a circa 150 mm. forked tear at the upper right sheet edge.
- a circa 100 mm. tear at the right sheet edge at centre.
- a number of other, shorter tears an splits in places.
- all tears and splits very skilfully repaired and retouched, and quite unobtrusive.
- a repaired and re-touched circa 40 mm. oblique cut to the right of the windmill at the horizon.
- skilfully made-up paper losses at the upper sheet corners, the upper right sheet edge and the lower right sheet corner (all just outside the subject).
- pale staining along the sheet edges.
- other minor defects and repairs.
