The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue description:
- not examined out of the frame.
- the full sheet, with deckle edge at right, above and below.
- the watermark is that of the printer, H. Schneider.
- some horizontal printer's creases in the margins, inherent in the printing.
- two slightly rubbed areas to the left of the embossing.
- a small, unobtrusive paper inclusion (a pink fibre) just below the circle at centre.
- the sheet loosely mounted to the backboard.
