Signed Zeshin (Shibata Zeshin; 1807-1891), Meiji period (late 19th century)
The square wooden lid decorated in gold and black hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with flowers, the wood exterior with grain, grooves and tiny holes, the box of woven bamboo decorated with a leaf treated as a continuous composition on the top, signature on underside of lid
2 ½ x 2 ½ x 1 ¼ in. (6.4 x 6.4 x 3.2 cm.)
