WRIGHTSMAN GALLERIES – Group of nine books on the Wrightsman galleries in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, from Mrs. Wrightsman’s personal library. 20-21st centuries.

Nine volumes, various sizes. Many in publisher’s bindings, some with original dust jackets and slip covers.
Now widely known as the core of the Metropolitan’s decorative arts galleries, the Wrightsman collection was originally destined for the National Gallery through Wrightsman’s connection with Director John Walker—an early and important influence on their collection of paintings. The Wrightsmans' move to New York from Palm Beach shifted their interest to New York and away from DC. This group of books contains reference material for the Parisian and Viennese Louis XV interiors which the Wrightsmans personally installed in 1963, as well as their 1983 installations of Louis XVI interiors.
