Elephants blends paisley into a whimsical circus scene. “Each elephant’s head and trunk form a meta-paisley; smaller paisleys are scattered throughout. The abundance of detail creates a pattern that rewards careful looking.” (Brown and Rennolds-Milbank, p. 139). Zuzek held a deep understanding of pattern design and would often take a well known historical pattern such as paisley and recreate it with unexpected elements like vegetables or sea creatures.

Overall good condition. Upon close inspection, the following are visible. Long edges of paper roughly cut. Areas of tape residue to extreme edges. One piece of tape to top edge. Scattered areas of minor staining scattered throughout. With lines of graphite tracing forms and adding details throughout. With scattered small pin holes. With 3 hole punches to the right edge, all 5⁄16 in in diameter.
