Lot Essay

When Lilly Pulitzer ventured into men's clothing in the 1960s with her "Men's Stuff" line, she started off with animal prints, which were seen as more masculine, but quickly branched out into florals as well as they became popular with both genders. This dynamic mythological pattern, created for a male buyer, includes knights, griffins, sphynxes, and a winged bull as well as an assortment of shields, flowering plants, fleur-de-lis, and Zuzek's classic sun face motif.
