Quentin Blake (b. 1932)
Scenes in Outline #44
2019

Chinagraph pencil, sketchbook paper, signed. Sketch on verso.
418 x 291mm

From a series entitled 'Scenes in Outline' produced for the 'QB Papers'. Quentin said of the series: 'The advantage of drawing thematic sequences is that one has the opportunity to change technique from one to another; and in this case to go to the extreme of simplicity. It is possible to depict a dignified figure in very restrained outline and once you have that in front of you, it becomes obvious that what is needed to allow a formal progress is a set of wheels at the bottom'.
