Lot Essay

This “Jules Audemars Tourbillon” is preserved in very good overall condition. It is NO. 17 of this model made in an exceedingly small series.

Ref. 25781 was introduced in 1991 as the world's first wristwatch combining a tourbillon, an automatic movement, a power reserve and a date indication. Furthermore it is notable for its streamlined case devoid of crown, which has been moved to the back, and its calibre 2875 which features a pendulum oscillating weight as self-winding mechanism rather than the traditional rotor.

The model is illustrated and described in Gisbert L. Brunner, Christian Pfeiffer, Martin K. Wehrli "Audemars Piguet", Munich 1993, p. 276.
