Reference 1463
In 1940, four years into the production of the reference 130, Patek Philippe & Co. started manufacturing the reference 1463, its first water resistant chronograph. A stronger wristwatch made to match current market demand due to sportive usage and the context of World War II. This chronograph stayed in production until approximately 1967.

With a magnificent design, the timepiece featured a very high quality water resistant case made by Taubert, with a screw back as well as a humidity-proof metal cover protecting the movement. With an evolution divided into three, the present timepiece is part of the third series, and was part of the last pieces produced, being sold in 1967. Featuring a highly attractive dial design, it is simpler than previous series and the wristwatch features a flatter case band and lug profile. As for other Patek Philippe chronographs produced since 1936, the reference 1463 featured the caliber 13 130 CC with Valjoux ébauche finished in Patek Philippes workshops.

Reference 1463 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 267, and in Patek Philippe Museum - Patek Philippe Watches - Volume II, pp. 268-269.
