The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The present lot is offered in very good overall condition. The dial and hands are in excellent condition. The dial appears to be original. The luminous material on the dial is much less reactive than the hands to UV light, however, they both stop glowing immediately after removing the UV light displaying proper age. The case and bracelet are in good condition with light scratches, and scuffs throughout. The crown is a Vacheron Constantin service crown. There is a ding to the lower edge on the bottom portion of the left case side. The case numbers on the back are mostly rubbed, although the ‘222’ is crisp. There is wear on the inner portion of the lugs from the bracelet. The bracelet links do have some play, but is not very loose. The clasp locking mechanism works well. The date progresses properly and the quick set date is functioning at the time of cataloging. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.
