The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

As can be seen in the photograph there is old wear to the lacquer surface including small surface cracks, slight lifting and small chips. There has been some restoration to the mother-of-pearl inlays and nashiji. There are old cracks to the edges of the cover and the base, some of which have been repaired. The interior has similar wear consistent with age including small chips and crackle to the lacquer surface with some lifting. The lead rims with old wear consistent with age. The base has surface wear also consistent with use. The box is overall in good condition for its age.
