The 2012 Davis Cup World Group Play-offs saw Switzerland take on the Netherlands, in Amsterdam, in a pivotal fixture. Winners of the contests would go through to play in the 2013 Davis Cup main draw with losers relegated to further playoffs. Roger played a pivotal role in a Swiss victory, winning both his singles matches in straight sets over Thiemo de Bakker and Robin Haase.
