Roger Federer entered the 2010 Wimbledon Championships as defending champion having won an epic contest against Andy Roddick the previous year. The top seed faced tricky opposition in the first round having to come from 2-0 down in sets to Alejandro Falla to advance on centre court. More routine wins against Clément and Melzer followed before Roger was defeated in four sets by the Czech Republic’s Tomáš Berdych in the quarter-finals. Berdych went on to beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals before losing out on what would have been the most famous of titles to Rafa Nadal in the final.
