Browse British and Irish pictures from The Ross Collection featuring 18th, 19th and 20th Century drawings, watercolours, pastels and pictures by artists including Paul Sandby, Thomas Rowlandson, George Barret, George Chinnery, Nathaniel and Evie Hone, John Piper and many more.
The Ross Collection was formed over several decades by John Ross (1919-2011) at his regency home, Knockmore, outside Dublin. Many of the pictures are of Irish interest, and Ross was an active member and Chairman of the Irish Friends of the National Collections, playing an important role in securing many great works for the national collection.
Knockmore was equally celebrated for its garden, created by John’s wife Ruth Isabel ‘Rubel’ Ross (1919-2016).
