Each modeled with a classical figure attended by a putto resting on a rockwork base atop an oval plinth issuing three candle arms entwined by scrolling leaf tendrils and flowers, on alternating acanthus-clasped scrolling and fluted feet joined by laurel swags, each with paper label to the underside inscribed '878' and 'R. DU CH. 41'

Provenance
Confiscated by the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg following the Nazi occupation of France in May 1940 (ERR no. R 4414 a & b).
Recovered by the Monuments Fine Arts and Archives Section from the Altaussee salt mines, Austria (no. 787), and transferred to the Munich Central Collecting Point, 26 June 1945 (MCCP no. 979).
Returned to France on 2 March 1946 and restituted to the Rothschild family.
By descent to the present owners.
