拍品專文

The arms are those of the Rothschild family possibly for Baron Alphonse de Rothschild (1827-1905), who likely acquired the present lot on the occasion of his marriage to Léonora de Rothschild (1837-1911) in 1857 .

François Durand (1792-circa 1874) was apprentice to Odiot and head of Fauconnier's workshop. His work was much praised and he was goldsmith to the Duke of Orléans. He took part in numerous exhibitions of industrial products at the beginning of the 19th century, as well as in Universal Exhibitions in London in 1851 and Paris in 1855.
