The canvas is unlined and continues to provide stable support.
There are faint stretcher bar imprints along the upper edge and the left and right edges, visible on the obverse of the canvas. There are a few minor frame abrasions to the edges of the canvas, some with minor associated paint loss to the painted brown border.There are a few very minor paint losses in the lower right corner and a few paint losses in the lower left corner, the largest of which measures approx. 0.3 x 1 cm.
There is localised craquelure overall, some of which is slightly raised.
Inspection under UV light reveals some retouchings overall, some pigments fluoresce, most notably to the sky, to the upper right corner approx. 5 cm. long and a patch above the stock exchange that measures approx. 3 x 3 cm.
There is light surface dirt and accretions overall. There are a few specks of loose white pigment in places.

Inspection under UV light reveals a few retouchings to the face and hair of the sitter, the largest of which is 1.5 cm. long. to the hair.
There is light surface dirt and accretions overall. The varnish has discoloured.
