The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas is unlined and slightly loose on the stretcher. There are framing abrasions to the extreme edges with associated specks of paint loss. A faint mark of the imprint made by the central stretcher bar is visible on the obverse. There is an incised horizontal line, which runs intermittently 1 cm. from the lower edge.
There is craquelure overall.
Inspection under UV light reveals areas of retouching along the extreme edges, including an area just above the signature, as well as a few minor areas of inpainting overall.
The varnish has discoloured. There are accretions and surface dirt overall.
