Lot Essay

This rare platter is one of the early Soviet propaganda works that have inscriptions in German. There was a large appetite for Russian avant-garde design in Europe in the early 1920s. The newly established State Porcelain Factory produced a number of porcelain pieces for export, some of which were decorated with slogans and quotes in German, the language of Karl Marx and other famous revolutionaries.
