The canvas has been lined.
There are some frame abrasions along the extreme edges of the canvas, with some associated paint loss. There are faint stretcher bar imprints visible on the obverse of the canvas.
There is a pattern of craquelure overall, some of which is raised.
Inspection under UV light reveals scattered spots and small areas of retouching overall, some of which is visible to the naked eye, the most notable of size approx. 4 x 3 cm. in the lower right quadrant, to the sitter's sleeve.
There is a repaired "L"-shaped puncture to the canvas just below the model's chin.
There is some surface dirt and accretions overall. The varnish has discoloured.
