An iro-iro odoshi haramaki armor
Momoyama period (late 16th century)
The armor comprising a five-piece do (cuirass) of honkozane (small individual scales) with iro-iro odoshi (variegated lacing), closed by a separate seita of matching laced honkozane extending down the center of the back, the helmet in the form of a high eboshi (court cap) lacquered golden-orange, the maedate (forecrest) formed of a tied silver strip, red-lacquered face mask with wide open mouth and white boar's-bristle moustache, the five-tiered shikoro, sode, kusazuri, throat guard, and do all of matching lacing, the shino-gote (sleeves) with lacquered-iron strips of alternating black and red, the haidate (thigh guards) with iyozane (rectangular scales) with red-and-black-checkered pattern, and the suneate (shin guards) of russet iron
