A group of six tsuba
Edo-Meiji period (19th century)
A group of six tsuba comprising: a round copper tsuba with a polished ground broken away to show a trellis and an onigawara (roof beam-end tile with demon visage), the reverse with birds and bow and arrows, inlaid in shibuichi, silver and gilt; an elevated rim mokko shape shakudo nanako tsuba with two dragons and on the reverse peonies in high relief with gilt details; an oval vertically striated black iron tsuba with a gilt rim in the form of rosary beads; an oval iron tsuba pierced and carved in with two a Chinese boy and tutor before a table beneath a flowering plum tree by a waterfall, silver, shibuichi, and gilt details; a rounded rectangular iron tsuba with a Chinese immortal beneath a pine, on the reverse a waterfall, in takabori with silver and gilt details; an oval shibuichi tsuba with raised rim with the immortal Gama Sennin and his toad in beneath a pine by the sea in high and sunken relief and inlaid in copper, gold and silver
