Lot Essay

A small group of hand axes were recovered from a quarry pit near Keswick Mill, Norfolk between 1956 and 1970. Dating to circa 400,000-150,000 years old, they represent some of the earliest instruments made by humans and are a very tangible link to our earliest ancestors.
